National Accounts Manager

This is a position with The Marley Company, a parent company which provides administrative support to the SPX Enterprises HVAC Heating businesses (such as WM Technologies, LLC, Marley Engineered Products, LLC, Patterson-Kelley, LLC)  and includes all Weil-McLain® branded products.

How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a National Accounts Manager, you will be responsible for managing and growing relationships with key national accounts, developing strategic account plans, and achieving sales targets across assigned accounts. This role requires a strong understanding of each customer’s business needs and objectives, along with consistent and effective communication to ensure customer satisfaction and strengthen long-term partnerships. The National Accounts Manager will play a critical role in expanding Weil-McLain’s national footprint, increasing market share, growing revenue, and ensuring the successful execution of sales strategies.

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

  1. Market & Revenue Growth
  • Promote and grow market share for commercial and residential high-efficiency boiler products.
  • Increase Weil-McLain’s share of business with National Account Distributor Partners.
  • Monitor costs and account performance to support increased revenue and profitable growth within National Accounts.
  • Maintain and grow revenue across cast iron, high-efficiency commercial, and residential boiler product lines.
  • Identify opportunities to expand product penetration and strengthen Weil-McLain’s position within assigned national accounts..

  1. Strategic Account Planning
  • Create and implement strategic account plans to drive growth within each assigned account, utilizing market trends, customer insights, and competitive analysis.
  • Identify risks and opportunities within accounts and develop strategies to mitigate risks and capitalize on growth opportunities.
  • Analyze account data, customer performance, and market trends to adjust strategies and proactively address potential challenges.
  • Monitor account performance metrics and provide regular reporting and updates to senior management.
  • Align account strategies and activities with overall Weil-McLain commercial objectives.

     3.  National Account Management

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key national accounts, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts, responding to inquiries and coordinating issue resolution to maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Conduct regular business reviews with customers to assess needs, review performance metrics, and identify new opportunities.
  • Collaborate with customers to develop tailored solutions that align with their objectives and support revenue growth.
  • Strengthen relationships between Weil-McLain leadership and National Account leadership.
  • Develop a strong understanding of each assigned customer’s business model, priorities, market position, and growth objectives.

 

     4.  Cross-Functional Business Partnership

  • Partner with Product Development, Operations, and Customer Service teams to ensure customer expectations are met and deliverables remain on schedule.
  • Collaborate with Finance to monitor account performance and support accurate and timely billing and payment.
  • Coordinate internally to address customer needs, resolve issues, and support successful execution of national account commitments.
  • Communicate relevant customer insights, opportunities, risks, and market feedback to appropriate internal stakeholders.

 

 

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

Required Experience

  • Professional sales or account management experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the distribution business model.
  • Experience developing and maintaining customer relationships.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and sales opportunity management.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a field-based position while maintaining effective communication and collaboration with internal teams.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively to support assigned national accounts.

 

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Minimum of five (5) years of sales or account management experience, preferably within a national or key accounts role.
  • Knowledge of hydronic heating, HVAC systems, boilers, or related mechanical equipment.
  • Experience working with distributors or within a distribution-based sales model.
  • Experience developing and executing strategic account plans.
  • Ability to analyze account performance, market trends, and customer data to identify opportunities and inform sales strategies.
  • Experience conducting customer business reviews and presenting to customer and company leadership.

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant sales, account management, or industry experience will be considered.




Physical Demands

  • Frequent computer and keyboard use while managing customer communications, account information, reporting, and CRM activities.
  • Frequent travel by automobile and commercial aircraft.
  • Frequent standing and walking during customer meetings, industry events, trade shows, and site visits.
  • Ability to remain seated for extended periods while traveling, participating in meetings, or performing administrative responsibilities.
  • Ability to transport and handle presentation materials, product literature, and other sales-related materials as required.

Travel & Working Environment

  • Field-based position requiring approximately 75% travel.
  • Position requires residence with reasonable access to a major airport.
  • Travel includes customer locations, distributor facilities, company locations, industry events, trade shows, and other business-related destinations.
  • Work is performed in a combination of remote/home-office, customer, distributor, commercial, and occasional manufacturing environments.
  • Position requires flexibility in scheduling to accommodate customer meetings, travel requirements, industry events, and national account business needs.

The compensation information that follows is a reasonable estimate for the position and is provided pursuant to legal requirements in this state.   The salary estimate provided represents the typical salary range for the position, and other factors may be used to determine the successful candidate’s actual salary, including skill set, experience, training, education, organizational needs, internal equity, market data, and geographic zone.   The estimated salary range for this position is: $123,000 - $188,200   At SPX, it is not common for individuals to be hired at the higher end of the range, and compensation decisions depend on a variety of factors.   This role is eligible to participate in a discretionary bonus plan, subject to the rules governing the plan.  SPX offers a variety of benefits, including health benefits, 401k retirement with a company match, and flexible time off.   More information about our benefits can be found on the “Rewards and Benefits” section of the career page.
