How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)
SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As an Inside Sales Representative you will sell aftermarket parts through various proactive selling techniques and managing all aspects of customer service for incoming orders via QTC and ensuring proper setup into SAP. This position is also will help develop proactive selling techniques and train team members. The incumbent must master funnel management with a clean funnel and understands pricing needed to make decisions to win and track follow-up calls with associated sales results. In addition, this position is responsible for collaborating with SPX CT Plant employees and vendors to obtain the costs of products and lead-times. The incumbent is responsible for determining the quote list pricing of products using costs and general guidelines for markup. The incumbent also follows through on quotes that become orders to ensure products, pricing, and lead-times are provided in a manner consistent with the quote, will support team by reviewing engineering log vs. customer ship dates. This position also assists in meeting monthly, quarterly, and annual sales goals for the parts department. Furthermore, the successful incumbent will possess strong communication and customer service skills, require minimal supervision, and utilize innovative approaches to meeting all internal and external customer requests. The successful incumbent will be able to work well as an individual and within a group and, as needed, delegate tasks to others in supporting roles. Will help monitors team’s workload and help level load across team on daily basis. The incumbent will possess expertise in all aspects of FAP, FEP type tower and tower components, will provide training to team members and manage the sales numbers with regard to specific product(s).
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:
- Sales & Customer Engagement
- Engage customers proactively to sell and up-sell aftermarket parts opportunities.
- Help develop proactive selling techniques and train the team.
- Be accountable for aftermarket revenue and margin performance of assigned territory.
- Provide recommendations to distributor stocking levels.
- Participate in night and weekend emergency phone coverage on a rotational basis.
- Quoting, Orders & Commercial Management
- Review technical and commercial specifications.
- Manage the RFQ/quoting process and prepare proposals.
- Help monitor team’s workload to satisfy all customer requests in a timely manner.
- Process won orders from QTC into SAP and ensure compliance with the original proposal.
- Monitor orders in the system for delivery status and utilize expeditor support as needed.
- Assist with engineering scope of work and pricing confirmation for orders.
- Help review Engineering log vs. customer ship dates.
- Pricing & Catalog Management
- Create, revise, enhance, and distribute aftermarket pricing catalogs.
- Systems & Process Improvements
- Advance knowledge of ERP systems.
- Suggest and lead system enhancement projects with IT.
- Product Expertise & Training
- Serve as Product Champion for specific product groups (e.g., FAP, FEP towers and components).
- Provide product training to team members and Representatives.
- Participate in Representative and Service Contractor Training.
- Act as training sponsor for all new ISR team members.
- Performance Metrics
- Track follow-up calls and associated sales results as defined as margin contribution
- Proposal average turnaround time per month, exceeds 96% of tasks completed 0-1 days.
- Percentage of proposals within 1 to 2 days, at least 30% proposals within same day
- Clarity and accuracy of product description within proposal
What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)
We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:
Required Experience
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities of varying complexity
- Advance knowledge of all ERP type systems.
- Must be mechanically inclined and able to read engineering drawings
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Prior sales experience
- Familiarity with HVAC or cooling towers
- Familiarity with engineering documents and history
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Engineering or similar technical field
