As part of HVAC Cooling, SPX Cooling Technologies is a leader in high quality industrial HVAC equipment used to cool large facilities like hospitals, data centers, and power plants.   With cooling towers, fans, and refrigeration units, companies rely on brands like Marley, Recold, and SGS to provide comfort and mission critical and industrial cooling solutions.

The Senior Quality Manager is responsible for implementing the quality strategy, systems, and performance initiatives across the Cooling business. This role ensures products and processes consistently meet customer expectations, regulatory requirements, and operational objectives while driving a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.

 

The Senior Quality Manager serves as a key leader partnering with Engineering, Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Sourcing, Service, Project Management, and Commercial teams to improve customer satisfaction, reduce the Cost of Quality, strengthen supplier performance, and ensure robust quality planning throughout the product lifecycle.

 

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

•  Lead and mentor quality teams across manufacturing, supplier quality, customer quality, and quality engineering functions.

•  Establish a culture of ownership, prevention, accountability, and continuous improvement.

•  Promote a culture of accountability, customer focus, continuous improvement, and effective cross-functional collaboration.

•  Develop, monitor, and report quality metrics, including scrap, non-conformance, customer complaints, returns, and cost of poor quality.

•  Drive root cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions to improve product and process quality.

•  Maintain and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS).

•  Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 requirements and applicable customer, industry, and regulatory standards.

•  Lead internal, external and customer audits and ensure closure of audit findings.

•  Standardize quality processes, metrics, documentation, and corrective action systems across Cooling operations.

•  Investigate and resolve customer quality concerns and communicate certification and inspection requirements.

•  Partner with Engineering, Purchasing, Operations, and suppliers to resolve nonconforming material and product issues.

•  Support supplier quality through vendor ratings, product controls, and supplier audits.

•  Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities across quality systems and manufacturing processes.

• Lead training activities related to quality

 

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

•  Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Mechanical or related technical discipline.

•  At least 10 years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment, including experience leading people, processes, or quality initiatives.

•  Minimum 5 years leading quality teams within a manufacturing environment.

•  Demonstrated experience with customer quality, supplier quality, and manufacturing quality systems.

•  Experience supporting ISO-certified manufacturing organizations.

•  Strong knowledge of quality systems, auditing, root cause analysis, corrective action, inspection, and supplier quality.

•  Experience with continuous improvement tools such as value stream mapping, A3 problem solving, 8D, or Six Sigma preferred.

•  Relevant ASQ quality certification preferred.

•  Working knowledge of SAP or other ERP system and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

•  Strong leadership, communication, planning, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.

 

Travel & Working Environment

•  Primarily an office and manufacturing environment with varying noise levels.

•  Occasional exposure to outdoor conditions, including bad weather and excessive heat.

•  Travel to Americas plant, supplier, and customer locations as required.
