How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)
SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As the Training Program & Curriculum Specialist – Manufacturing, you will play a critical role in strengthening our workforce capability by designing, developing, and implementing structured training programs that drive operational excellence.
You will partner with manufacturing leadership and subject matter experts to enhance employee productivity, technical skills, safety performance, quality standards, and regulatory compliance. Serving as a process expert across assigned departments, you will ensure training consistency, measurable results, and continuous improvement in workforce development initiatives.
While primarily supporting first shift operations, this role must be flexible to support all shifts as business needs require.
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:
- Assess manufacturing training needs in partnership with managers, supervisors, and subject matter experts.
- Design, develop, and implement structured training programs and curricula aligned with business goals and workforce development strategies.
- Create learning objectives, training materials, job aids, assessments, and certification tools.
- Develop and continuously improve lesson plans and training modules for new hires and existing employees.
- Facilitate instructor-led and hands-on technical training sessions.
- Ensure consistency and effectiveness in training delivery across departments and internal trainers.
- Objectively evaluate trainee performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Develop and administer skills assessments and certification testing programs.
- Establish training progression plans and competency tracking systems to monitor employee development.
- Maintain accurate training documentation and records in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Support the development and revision of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and production documentation.
- Develop training metrics and key performance indicators to measure program effectiveness and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Deliver training in areas including operator and technical skills, equipment safety, quality systems, standard work, general manufacturing operations, and regulatory/compliance requirements.

Required Experience
- 3–5 years of experience in training, instruction, curriculum development, or a related role, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated experience developing structured training programs and competency-based learning systems.
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong facilitation skills with the ability to engage and instruct small to mid-sized groups.
- Thorough understanding of manufacturing processes and departmental operations.
- Ability to objectively assess employee performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills across all levels of the organization.
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence stakeholders.
- Adaptability and openness to change with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Education, Organizational Development, or a related field preferred.
- Relevant training or instructional design certifications are a plus.
Travel & Working Environment
- Primarily works in a manufacturing environment with exposure to production areas.
- Must be able to support all shifts as required by business needs.
- Limited travel may be required for training or business-related activities.
