How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. The Senior Financial Analyst – HVAC Operations provides strategic and analytical financial support to the HVAC operations team, partnering closely with operational leadership to drive performance, improve margins, and support growth and expansion initiatives. This role is responsible for translating operational activity into financial insight, supporting decision‑making related to capacity expansion, pricing, capital investment, and continuous improvement across HVAC operations.

 

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

Operational Finance Support

  • Serve as a primary finance partner to HVAC operations leadership, providing timely financial analysis, insights, and recommendations.
  • Analyze manufacturing and operational performance, including volume, pricing, mix, labor, overhead, and material costs.
  • Support monthly close activities related to operations, including variance analysis versus budget, forecast, and prior periods.
  • Develop and maintain standard cost models and support cost updates, productivity tracking, and margin improvement initiatives.

Planning, Forecasting & Reporting

  • Lead or support budgeting, forecasting, and long‑range planning for HVAC operations.
  • Prepare detailed financial models to support operational planning, including capacity utilization, headcount planning, and capital expenditures.
  • Develop dashboards and performance metrics to track key operational and financial KPIs.

Expansion & Growth Initiatives

  • Provide financial support for expansion initiatives, including new lines, facility expansions, footprint optimization, and make‑buy decisions.
  • Build business cases and ROI analyses for capital investments, growth projects, and strategic initiatives.
  • Partner with operations, engineering, and supply chain teams to evaluate financial risks and opportunities associated with expansion activities.

Business Partnering & Continuous Improvement

  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with operations, supply chain, engineering, and commercial teams to support decision‑making.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and margin enhancement across HVAC operations.
  • Support implementation and enhancement of financial processes, tools, and reporting to improve visibility and scalability.

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

Required Experience

  • 2 – 5 years of Accounting or Finance experience
  • Application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Understanding of the general requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 (“SOX”)

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • General business acumen
  • Solid understanding of financial principles, concepts, and reporting standards
  • Ability to multi-task and meet strict deadlines through appropriate planning and time management (e.g., use of checklists and frequent communication with team members and the program sponsor
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail
  • Professional communication and presentation skills for different levels of an organization
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel
  • Adaptability and flexibility with the willingness to learn different roles in accounting/finance

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
