Responsibilities: Hardware development for embedded systems including
- electronics design and specification
- schematic and layout design
- pcb manufacturing files generation
- prototype testing
- documentation through the development process
Minimum Requirements:
- 5+ years’ experience in hardware design for embedded systems.
- MSc (Tech), BSc (Tech) or equivalent degree in electronics engineering, automation engineering, electrical engineering or a related field.
- Working knowledge Altium Designer. Familiarity with PADS is considered a plus.
- Ability to convert given requirements into working design in co-operation with other disciplines.
- Good understanding of mixed-signal, power and RF electronics, LED drivers and topologies and SMPS designs.
- Basic understanding and knowledge of
- wireless communication interfaces and modules (BLE, LTE-M, NB-IoT, LoRAWAN).
- serial communication buses and protocols (UART, I2C, SPI).
- modules for satellite navigation systems (GNSS) and satellite communications (GlobalStar, Iridium).
- Familiarity with safety, EMC, environmental and other field related requirements, standards and directives.
- Ability to work with laboratory equipment needed for testing.
- Familiarity of Atlassian tools (Jira and Confluence) is considered a plus.
- Fluent written and spoken skills in English.
Duties:
1. Follow safe work practices and procedures and ensure a “safety first” culture in every task undertaken.
2. Advise the Systems Engineer and Engineering Manager of design or other issues affecting the development of appropriate software.
3. Researching, designing, documenting, and testing new hardware designs.
4. Developing existing designs by analysis and identifying areas for modification.
5. Investigating new technologies.
6. Creating technical specifications and test plans.
7. Working closely with other staff contributing to company objectives. Key contacts include systems engineers, test engineers, project managers and fw/sw engineers.
8. Constantly updating technical knowledge and skills by attending in-house and/or external courses, reading manuals and accessing new applications.
9. Participation in department improvement activities such as reviewing and updating engineering processes.
10. Perform any other duties as reasonably directed.
