How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)
SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Senior Operations Manager, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across multiple manufacturing and/or distribution sites. You will be accountable for safety, quality, delivery, cost, and people performance, while driving standardization, continuous improvement, and scalable operational excellence. This role partners closely with Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, HR, and Finance to ensure consistent execution and strong business results across all locations.
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:
- Multi‑Site Operational Leadership:
- Lead and develop site leaders to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations across all assigned locations
- Establish clear performance expectations and hold teams accountable to operational KPIs
- Ensure alignment to enterprise strategy and operational standards
- Safety, Quality, and Compliance:
- Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all environmental, health, and safety requirements
- Ensure consistent quality systems, corrective actions, and customer satisfaction across sites
- Partner with Quality and EHS teams to drive continuous risk reduction
3. Performance Management & Continuous Improvement:
- Drive Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity, cost, and service levels
- Standardize best practices and processes across sites while allowing for appropriate local flexibility
- Analyze operational data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities
4. Financial & Strategic Execution:
- Own site‑level operating budgets, cost controls, and capital planning in partnership with Finance
- Support capacity planning, footprint optimization, and long‑range operational strategy
- Deliver year‑over‑year improvements in margin, efficiency, and working capital
5. People Leadership & Talent Development:
- Build strong leadership benches through coaching, performance management, and succession planning
- Partner with Managing Director/HR to drive engagement, retention, and organizational capability
- Foster a culture of accountability, inclusion, and continuous learning
What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)
We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:
Required Experience
- 7+ years of progressive operations leadership experience in manufacturing, distribution, or industrial environments
- Proven experience leading multiple sites or large, complex operations
- Demonstrated success driving operational excellence, cost reduction, and continuous improvement
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong business acumen with the ability to balance strategic thinking and hands‑on execution
- Deep understanding of Lean, Six Sigma, or similar operational excellence frameworks
- Excellent leadership, communication, and change‑management skills
- Ability to influence across functions and levels of the organization
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or a related field
- MBA or Lean/Six Sigma certification preferred
Travel & Working Environment
- Ability to travel regularly between assigned sites (approximately 30–50%)
- Combination of office, manufacturing floor, and distribution environments
