Job Summary:

To provide technical expertise in support of new cooling tower sales by reviewing specifications, vetting RFQs, and determining best-fit solutions. This role is engineering-first, ensuring accurate product selection and technical credibility with consultants, while also developing the commercial skills needed to manage opportunities and grow into a customer-facing sales leader.        

Key Responsibilities:

Technical

  • Review RFQs, specifications, and consultant drawings to determine product compatibility and compliance.
  • Perform technical selections and system designs using SPX tools/software.
  • Recommend optimal product configurations and solutions to meet customer requirements.
  • Provide technical support and training to consultants, contractors, and internal sales colleagues.
  • Prepare and deliver technical submittals, proposals, and compliance documents.
  • Act as a technical point of contact for consultants and end users, able to discuss system design considerations (e.g. thermodynamics, water treatment, layout constraints).

Commercial

 

  • Support sales team with proposal development, quotations, and customer presentations.
  • Participate in customer meetings to present technical solutions in a commercially compelling way.
  • Develop knowledge of pricing structures, value propositions, and competitor positioning.
  • Assist in identifying new opportunities and developing consultant relationships.
  • Requirement to maintain pipeline information and prepare forecast reporting for the assigned region.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education

Required Experience

  • Experience in HVAC, cooling towers, or process cooling systems (applications, design, or technical sales).
  • Strong ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings, and RFQs.
  • Knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics.
  • Comfortable speaking with consultants, contractors, and technical stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Education & Certifications

  • Mechanical Engineering degree (or equivalent technical discipline).

Travel & Working Environment

  • Office based in Trim, County Meath, Monday - Friday
  • The position may require working occasionally outside normal work hours
  • Occasional travel
