Role Overview
The Service Operations Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient, and profitable delivery of site service activities across customer locations. The role provides leadership to field service personnel, ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with Health & Safety standards, approved RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements), customer requirements, and company procedures.
The successful candidate will possess a strong mechanical background, extensive site experience, proven leadership capability, and a commitment to developing a positive safety culture while delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety & Compliance
•    Lead by example in promoting a strong Health & Safety culture.
•    Ensure compliance with company H&S policies, customer site requirements, and statutory regulations.
•    Review, prepare, and approve RAMS for site-based activities.
•    Conduct site safety audits, toolbox talks, and risk assessments.
•    Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety observations and implement corrective actions.
•    Ensure all personnel are appropriately trained, competent, and certified for assigned duties.


Site Operations Management
•    Plan, coordinate, and supervise site service activities.
•    Manage multiple projects and service visits to ensure timely completion.
•    Monitor quality, productivity, and adherence to project schedules.
•    Coordinate site resources, equipment, subcontractors, and materials.
•    Ensure service activities are completed safely, efficiently, and within budget.
Technical Leadership
•    Provide technical guidance on mechanical equipment installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
•    Support field teams with problem resolution and technical decision-making.
•    Review service reports and ensure corrective actions are closed out.
•    Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on service delivery and operational excellence.
Team Leadership & Development
•    Lead, motivate, and develop service technicians and site personnel.
•    Conduct performance reviews, coaching, and training activities.
•    Manage workforce planning and resource allocation.
•    Promote accountability, teamwork, and a customer-focused culture.
Customer Relations
•    Act as the primary point of contact for customers during site activities.
•    Build strong relationships with customer stakeholders.
•    Attend customer meetings and provide progress updates.
•    Resolve operational issues quickly while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
Fleet Management
•    Manage the company fleet to ensure vehicles remain compliant, safe, and operational.
•    Oversee vehicle servicing, inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance schedules.
•    Monitor fleet utilisation, fuel consumption, and operating costs.
•    Ensure compliance with road safety legislation, insurance requirements, and company vehicle policies.
•    Investigate vehicle-related incidents and implement corrective actions.
•    Maintain fleet records including servicing history, inspections, licences, and compliance documentation.
•    Coordinate vehicle allocation to support operational and project requirements.
Tools, Equipment & Asset Management
•    Maintain accountability for all company tools, plant, equipment, and operational assets.
•    Develop and maintain asset registers and equipment tracking systems.
•    Ensure all equipment is inspected, calibrated, certified, and maintained in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
•    Manage inventory levels of tools, consumables, spare parts, and operational supplies.
•    Coordinate equipment repairs, replacements, and procurement activities.
•    Conduct regular audits of tools, equipment, and storage facilities.
•    Ensure field teams have the necessary resources to perform work safely and effectively.
•    Monitor usage and identify opportunities to improve equipment utilisation and reduce operational costs.
Administration & Reporting
•    Prepare and maintain service documentation, RAMS, permits, and site records.
•    Track KPIs related to safety, quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
•    Provide regular operational reports to management.
•    Support budgeting, forecasting, and resource planning activities.

Required Qualifications & Experience
Essential
•    Extensive experience in site services, maintenance, engineering, or industrial operations.
•    Strong mechanical engineering or mechanical trades background.
•    Proven experience managing teams in a site-based environment.
•    Demonstrable experience preparing and managing RAMS.
•    Excellent understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe systems of work.
•    Experience managing contractors, permits to work, and high-risk activities.
•    Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
•    Full driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites.

Desirable
•    Mechanical Engineering qualification (Degree, HND, HNC, Apprenticeship or equivalent).
•    H&S qualification.
•    Project Management training or qualification.
•    Experience within industrial, manufacturing, HVAC, cooling systems, utilities, or process environments would be an advantage.
