As part of Detection and Measurement, Enterprise Control Systems (ECS) is a leading supplier of long range data links that support real time high resolution video transfer between air and ground users.   In creating products like RF inhibitors and specialized equipment for military and security purposes, we protect ground forces and infrastructure around the world.

 

How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)
SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. The Senior Production Engineer is responsible for providing technical leadership and engineering support across production and manufacturing operations, ensuring products are delivered efficiently, accurately, and in line with quality and configuration requirements. The role acts as a key interface between Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, Quality, and Commercial teams, driving continuous improvement, managing engineering changes, maintaining manufacturing documentation, and supporting product lifecycle activities including configuration control and component obsolescence management.
This position also plays a key role in improving manufacturing processes, supporting operational performance, mentoring junior team members, and ensuring robust engineering standards are maintained throughout the product lifecycle.

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
While each day brings new opportunities at SPX Technologies, your core responsibilities as a Senior Production Engineer will include:
•    Act as the primary technical interface between Production/Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Quality teams, ensuring effective communication, issue resolution, and completion of all associated documentation.
•    Lead the creation, validation, and maintenance of part numbers, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and product structures for new and existing products, ensuring accuracy and compliance with configuration standards.
•    Creation and management of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), coordinating cross-functional reviews and implementation activities in line with Engineering Design Authority and Production Management requirements.
•    Proactively monitor component obsolescence, identify suitable alternatives, and drive continuity plans to minimise production and supply chain risk.
•    Take full ownership of the Manufacturing Data Pack for ECS products, ensuring documentation is accurate, controlled, and aligned with production and customer requirements.
•    Lead and implement mechanical and electrical/electronic design updates, supporting continuous improvement, manufacturability, and cost-reduction initiatives where appropriate.
•    Maintain overall responsibility for configuration management processes, governance, and associated engineering management plans, ensuring full traceability and compliance throughout the product lifecycle.
•    Develop, review, and continuously improve Assembly Instructions and manufacturing documentation to support operational efficiency, quality, and standardisation.
•    Own and drive the Production Feedback Register, ensuring issues are investigated, corrective actions are implemented, and lessons learned are captured and communicated.
•    Provide support to Sales and Commercial teams for the generation, validation, and management of part number/model descriptors and customer-specific configurations.
•    Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior technicians and production staff, supporting capability development and knowledge sharing across the business.
•    Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance product quality, reduce waste, and improve production efficiency.

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)
We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:
Required Experience 
•    Proven experience in a Production Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or similar engineering role within a manufacturing or engineering environment, with significant responsibility for product and process support.
•    Demonstrable experience managing complex Bills of Materials (BOMs), Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), and configuration management processes.
•    Strong background in supporting production operations, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and resolving manufacturing and technical issues.
•    Experience leading cross-functional projects and coordinating activities across Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, Quality, and Commercial teams.
•    Practical experience with mechanical and/or electrical/electronic product updates, including design modifications and production implementation.
•    Proven ability to manage product lifecycle activities, including component obsolescence, alternative component approval, and change control.
•    Strong understanding of manufacturing documentation, assembly instructions, and engineering data management systems.
•    Proficient in the use of ERP/MRP systems, and engineering documentation tools.
•    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound engineering decisions in a fast-paced production environment.
•    Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers and technicians would be advantageous.
•    Basic knowledge of RF concepts is highly desirable.

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
•    Degree, HND, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic, Manufacturing, or related Engineering discipline.
•    Established experience in an equivalent role.

Education & Certifications
•    HNC/HND, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
•    Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement certifications would be advantageous.

Travel & Working Environment
•    Hybrid working arrangement – currently 3 days on site, subject to business requirements.
•    Occasional travel may be required to support suppliers, customers, or other company sites.
