As part of Detection and Measurement, Enterprise Control Systems (ECS) is a leading supplier of long range data links that support real time high resolution video transfer between air and ground users. In creating products like RF inhibitors and specialized equipment for military and security purposes, we protect ground forces and infrastructure around the world.
How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)
SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Test Engineer, you will be capable of testing all ECS products to the required specification and have a good knowledge of every stage of the manufacturing process.
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:
• To ensure the successful alignment and test of products and systems, with an understanding of the products down to component level.
• Accept responsibility of the product throughout the manufacturing cycle.
• Identify problems with products and systems during manufacture and report back to the line manager/supervisor and design authority immediately.
• Work with the rest of the team to achieve on time delivery against the manufacturing plan.
• To work with new designs or modules where not all documentation has yet been released, under the guidance of the design authority.
• To train/assist more junior grades to successfully follow test procedures and understand the basics of how products or modules operate.
• Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of products under test and clearly communicate issues and possible solutions back to the design authority and line manager/supervisor for future development/improvements.
• Support the creation of test procedures where required.
What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)
We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:
Required Experience
• Experience in analogue and digital electronics, including fault finding to component level.
• Knowledge of the setup and tuning of RF Power Amplifiers
• Experience with RF test equipment such as network analyzers, power meters, spectrum analyzers, noise figure meter and signal generators etc.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience working within Test in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to learn and adapt quickly and excellent problem-solving skills
• A self-motivated team player, able to operate with the minimum of supervision and communicate clearly with employees at all levels.
• Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills
• IT literate
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Have a passion for Engineering, be quality focused and be able to meet tight deadlines.
• Experience of working with COFDM systems
• Previous experience of transmit and receive systems.
• Knowledge of an ERP system, e.g. Syspro
Education & Certifications
• Degree qualified or equivalent
